We spoke to regular Provisions Pop Up stall German Wholegrain Bakers to find out a bit more about them and their products.

The team is made up of Alexandra, who bakes all the delicious goodies, and Susanne, who you may have met at Courage Yard, serving customers and telling you everything there is to know about their wholegrain German flavours!

How did you start up the German Wholegrain Bakers shop?

When we grew up in Germany in the seventies and eighties there was a wholemeal bakery popping up at every corner, so the choices of amazing bread and cakes was huge.

Later, when we lived in other countries, the one thing we always missed was the good bread, which gave us the idea of baking it ourselves and bringing it to the people in London.

What are some of your best-selling products?

Definitely our 100% wholemeal bread, the banana bread with dark chocolate, pecan and peanuts, and the German cheesecakes made with Quark.

Which of your products would you recommend for the Christmas dinner table?

Our pure spelt bread goes perfectly with a cheese board, and our malted rye is delicious alongside smoked salmon.

Our Quark Stollen is a great Christmas dessert, or in the evening to enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee. For sitting together to share a quiet moment, our typical German Christmas confectionery is the perfect treat.

What do you enjoy about having a Provisions Pop Up stall at Courage Yard?

We love the historic location, the ambiance of the area, and the mixture of customers that we get to interact with, including locals, tourists, and office workers.

Will you still be trading at Courage Yard around Christmas time, and have you got any special festive treats on the menu?

We will be here every Friday, and we also do deliveries in the area.

Our Christmas specials include a variety of baked confectionery, like cinnamon stars called Zimtsterne, gingerbread men, and other delicious flavour combinations such as chocolate hazelnut, salted caramel, chocolate and sour cherry, and pistachio and raspberry.

We also have the Stollen, a traditional Christmas fruit bread, and Elisen Lebkuchen, which are made with ground almonds, orange and lemon peel and are bursting with flavour!

Are there any other products you would like to venture into in the future?

We will bring back our famous tea biscuits and confectionery and Alex the baker is constantly looking for new inspirations to surprise your taste buds!
